A Community Music School
Teacup Music is a community music school located at GAMBA Forest (630 Humboldt Street) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It was founded by violinist/composer Concetta Abbate. Concetta holds a masters degree in Music and Music Education from Columbia University. She has been teaching private lessons for over ten years. She has been a guest teaching artist at institutions including Stony Brook University, The Sugar Hill Storytelling and Art Museum and Takt Gallery in Berlin. She has received grants from the Rauschenberg Foundation, Department of Cultural Affairs, Brooklyn Arts Council, the Charles Mayer Foundation as well as The Roothbert Fund.
Her teaching style is led by the philosophy that if students love what they are learning they will be motivated to discover more. Concetta provides guidance and structure for students to accomplish their unique musical goals. Most of her classes are accompanied by her in-training therapy dog Pepper, a good natured hypoallergenic spotted Goldendoodle.
